How it works

Stay in the game by maintaining positive body language and effort after falling behind.

What you need

  • cones
  • soccer ball
  • scrimmage vests

Your focus

Adversity during competition reveals attitude. This game creates structured losing moments and gives players a framework for responding with effort rather than disengagement , the defining characteristic of a good attitude under pressure.

1

Play a 4v4 tournament where teams are eliminated if they concede 2 goals.

2

Eliminated teams go to a 'comeback zone', a small grid where they do ball skill challenges to earn back entry.

3

After 3 minutes in the comeback zone, eliminated teams can return.

4

Coach watches for body language, teams showing frustration or negativity are noted.

5

Post-game, highlight teams/players who kept their attitude positive even when eliminated.

6

Discuss the connection between attitude and comeback ability.

Goal

You're doing it right when you get eliminated, do the comeback challenges hard, and return with your head up and your voice positive, not sulking in the corner.

Helpful cues

  • Head up means you're still in it mentally
  • Your body language affects your teammates
  • Champions stay positive when it's hard

Adjust the challenge

Make it easier

Strip it back

No elimination, just track attitude points separately from goals.
