Your focus
Wall ball is the highest-repetition stick skill training method available. Consistent wall ball practice at the beginner level builds the throwing mechanics, soft hands, and eye-hand coordination that underlie all passing and catching skills.
Player stands 8 yards from wall.
Throw overhand at a target on the wall and catch the rebound in a natural position.
Alternate dominant and non-dominant hand every 10 catches.
Complete 100 total wall ball reps in each session.
Goal
It's working when at least 15 out of 20 passes hit the wall and come back catchably, not perfect, but consistent enough to build on.
Helpful cues
- Throw at the same spot every time, consistency beats power
- Catch with soft hands, give a little to receive the ball smoothly
- Non-dominant hand feels awkward at first, that's normal; keep going
