How it works
Perform basic skipping locomotion while holding a lacrosse stick to develop coordinated movement patterns.
What you need
- lacrosse stick
Your focus
Skipping builds rhythm, coordination, and single-leg power in young athletes. Introducing the stick early normalizes carrying equipment during athletic movement.
Player holds stick in dominant hand at their side, pocket up.
Player skips 20 yards down the field and back.
Switch stick to non-dominant hand on the return trip.
Repeat 3 rounds with 20 seconds rest.
Goal
You've got it when your skip stays rhythmic with the stick in your hand the whole way, no breaking stride, no switching the stick to your side awkwardly.
Helpful cues
- Big arm swing on the free arm
- Lift your knee high on each skip
- Hold the stick steady, no waving it around
