How it works
Skate to support positions in a triangle around a puck carrier, building puck-support instincts.

- cones
- puck
Your focus
Being in the right support triangle around the puck carrier gives your team two safe outlet options at all times. This drill trains the angles and distances that make puck support automatic.
Place a puck at center ice. Mark two support positions: one 8 yards to each side.
Skate from the bottom of the triangle to the left support position.
Skate across to the right support position.
Skate back to start. That is one circuit.
8 circuits. Stay in the triangle, never skate behind the puck.
Goal
You've got it when all 8 circuits are completed without cutting behind the puck and you arrive in balance at each support position.
Helpful cues
- Stay in front of the puck, never support from behind
- Maintain a support angle: 45 degrees to the side, not directly beside
- Be on your edges and ready to receive before the pass comes
