How it works
Train off-puck players to establish and maintain net-front presence as a scoring support position for point shots and passes.

Your focus
Net-front support is one of the highest-value off-puck roles in hockey , a player who screens the goalie and tips shots changes the game without touching the puck most of the time. Building the habit of skating to the net when the puck goes to the point directly increases shot conversion rates. Players who support the net actively are constant threats even on plays that start away from them.
Puck carrier positions at the blue line for a point shot; two forwards are in the zone.
Before the shot, one forward must establish net-front position and stay there through the shot.
Second forward positions as a trailer for the rebound.
Point player shoots; net-front player screens or tips; trailer attacks rebound.
Goal
Success is holding net-front position through contact and tipping or scoring on at least one shot per rotation.
Helpful cues
- Get to the net BEFORE the shot, not as the puck arrives
- Wide base, stick on the ice, ready to deflect
- Your screen is your support to the shooter, they cannot score as easily without you
