How it works
Practice offensive communication to identify and account for a blitz through coordinated protection assignments and hot route adjustments.

Your focus
Blitz pickup in flag football requires the QB, center, and nearby receivers to communicate quickly and execute adjusted assignments simultaneously. Teams that can identify and solve a blitz through communication rarely get sacked and often convert big plays against overloaded defenses. This drill builds the communication-under-pressure teamwork that wins tight games.
Set up a 5v5 with a defense using a predetermined blitz on every snap (but from varying angles).
Pre-snap: QB identifies the blitz and announces 'Hot!', the center confirms 'I see it' and the receiver signals their hot route adjustment.
Snap the ball; QB hits the hot route immediately while other receivers continue their original routes to clear space.
Grade each rep on a three-part rubric: correct identification, successful communication, clean hot route execution.
Goal
You're there when the blitz is picked up because everyone communicated the assignment shift, no one left unaccounted for.
