How it works
Reward positive attitude and effort by awarding hustle points for enthusiasm and encouragement toward teammates.

Your focus
Young players respond strongly to recognition of non-skill behaviors like energy and encouragement. Tying points to attitude rather than outcomes teaches that attitude is a choice players make every play. This creates a team culture where positivity becomes part of how the game is played.
Explain before practice that coaches will award 'Hustle Points' for great attitude: cheering teammates, recovering after a mistake with a smile, and helping someone up.
Run a series of short flag football plays (3 on 3) and coaches observe attitude behaviors while refereeing.
After each series, coaches award a team Hustle Point for any observed attitude moment and name the player aloud.
At the end of practice, the team counts their total Hustle Points together.
