Your focus
The double shuffle forces the defender to stay patient and controlled , two shuffles before committing to the tackle trains the discipline that prevents overcommitting and getting beaten.
Mark an approach lane 5 yards long with two cones at the end.
Start at the top. Shuffle step twice toward the ball.
On the second shuffle, lower your stick and make a block tackle through the cones.
8 reps. Focus on low body position and not overcommitting early.
Progress: add a rolling ball to tackle instead of static cones.
Goal
You've got it when both shuffles and the tackle are clean on 6 of 8 reps without any lunging.
Helpful cues
- Shuffle, shuffle, then tackle, don't skip steps
