How it works
Ignite competitive instincts through a simple 1v1 game to mini goals in a small grid.
What you need
- field hockey sticks
- field hockey ball
- mini goals or cones
Your focus
1v1 competition is the purest test of compete level and gives every player maximum touches. Small goals and a small grid ensure both players are always engaged. A fun, safe competitive environment at age 6-9 builds the habit of competing with energy.
Set up a 10x8-yard grid with a mini goal at each end.
Flip a coin or do rock-paper-scissors to decide who starts with the ball.
Play 1v1 for 60 seconds; winner is the player with more goals.
Rotate opponents after each 60-second round.
Goal
You've got it when you're still working hard in the 1v1 even when you're losing, you compete for every ball, not just the first one.
