Your focus
Leaders recognize moments when the team needs direction and have the courage to act on it. Practicing in-game leadership decisions , when to stop play, what to say, how to energize teammates , builds the real-time leadership skills that win games. Every great team captain has practice leading under these conditions.
During a small-sided activity scrimmage, one player on each team is designated the captain and given one timeout per game.
Captain may call timeout at any point. In the timeout, captain must identify a problem and propose one adjustment.
Team executes the adjustment on the next possession. Evaluate: Was the timeout needed? Was the adjustment clear?
Rotate captain role every game.
