How it works
Build resilience by training players to continue competing at full effort after a series of deliberately engineered mistakes.

Your focus
Resilience is not the absence of negative emotion after errors , it is the ability to continue performing despite it. Deliberately inducing and recovering from mistakes in practice removes their novelty in games. Players who have 'practiced failing' are less destabilized when it happens in competition.
Set a 1-minute serving rally drill. Each player delivers 5 balls; coach deliberately returns 3 of them as an ace (pointing away or calling 'out' even on good serves) to simulate a bad call.
Player must continue the drill at full effort and full focus despite the engineered setback.
After the drill, players rate their own resilience on a 1–5 scale: 'Did I let it bother me? Did I slow down? Did I get distracted?'
Debrief what mental strategy helped most: breathing, reset phrase, focusing on next ball.
Helpful cues
- You cannot control what gets called, only what you do next
- Anger is energy, use it to try harder on the next ball
- Resilience looks like: chin up, next play
Adjust the challenge
Make it easier
Strip it back
Remove the bad-call element and simply have players recover from their own genuine errors in a high-volume serving drill.UpLVL it
Add the next challenge
Add a scoreboard element where 'bad calls' cost a point, and the player must recover a deficit through continued play.No account needed
Build a practice plan
Add drills, keep the plan in this browser, then share a link with your staff or parents. This library helps you find the right drill. Inside UpLVL the right drill finds the player.
After every practice, UpLVL automatically surfaces the drills each player needs to work on most. See it for yourself.
