How it works

Defend five consecutive offensive possessions without allowing a goal, maintaining scheme integrity under fatigue.

What you need

  • lacrosse stick
  • lacrosse ball
  • cones
  • goal
  • pinnies

Your focus

Elite defenders must sustain concentration and physical output across multiple consecutive possessions. The five-possession lock-down forces physical and mental toughness under accumulating fatigue , exactly the scenario that causes defensive breakdowns late in games.

1

Defense holds their positions for five consecutive 45-second offensive possessions.

2

Any goal scored resets the count to zero, they must complete five straight possessions without allowing a goal.

3

Offense is fresh for each possession; defense is continuous.

4

If defense achieves the five-possession lock-down, they earn a conditioning exemption.

Goal

Success is holding for all five consecutive possessions, fatigue will test the scheme, and holding the fifth stop as cleanly as the first means you've built something real.

Helpful cues

  • Possession four and five are won in your mind, not your legs
  • Communicate louder when tired, that's when it matters most
  • One goal means you start over, build a wall mentality

Adjust the challenge

Make it easier

Strip it back

Require three consecutive possessions instead of five.

UpLVL it

Add the next challenge

One defender is randomly removed for two of the five possessions to simulate penalty situations.
