How it works
Develop high-speed decision-making on defensive zone breakouts by reading the forechecker's position to choose the correct clearing option.

Your focus
Breakout decision-making errors are among the most costly mistakes in competitive hockey. Training the ability to read a forechecker's angle and location while retrieving the puck builds the automatic processing speed needed to make correct breakout decisions under real game tempo. Fast, correct breakout decisions directly reduce goals against.
Coach fires a puck into the defensive zone; D retrieves with one of three forechecker positions pre-set: close aggressive, wide passive, or two-player trap.
D must identify the forechecker scenario within 1 second and call the correct breakout option.
Team executes the called option and attempts to exit the zone cleanly.
After 15 reps, review the scenarios and decision accuracy; identify patterns in decision errors.
