How it works
Develop reactive acceleration by sprinting to a ball placed randomly in multiple directions on a visual cue.
What you need

Your focus
In field hockey, acceleration is always triggered by a stimulus , a loose ball, a through-pass, a defensive recovery. Reactive sprint training develops the neurological quickness that bridges perception and physical acceleration. This is more game-specific than prescribed-direction sprints.
Player stands at center of a 20x20-yard grid; balls placed at each corner.
Coach points to a corner; player sprints to that ball and dribbles to a central cone.
Rest at center; coach immediately points to the next corner.
Complete 12 reactive sprints; time each ball-to-dribble sequence.
Goal
You've got it when you reach the randomly placed ball before it feels like a fair race, your first step is that fast.
